I don't much like this article. Not hard-hitting from a historical revisionist p.o.v. It seems to favor Jews over Brits. The usual eternal victim narrative is reinforced. This time w/ Brits being the oppressors. Actually the Brits were holding the Zionists back from taking over Palestine. They left because of Jewish terrorism, King David Hotel. There were other points that were not well made like the Jewish stab in the back re WW1. Germany turned against them because they were traitorous, not because they had more money.

i kinda think the information in this piece - which was new to me - as a neat way to slide into “Nazis are bad. they got jews into c. camps”. we could retort with - oh yeah just like the Brits did. And then when they get puzzled .. swoop in with details.

It does work as a starter, but so does the Americans got their Japanese citizens into concentration camps and the Soviets worked millions to death in their gulags.

And no, Germany sending Jews to Palestine to get the Jews out of Germany and Europe doesn’t make Hitler and the Nazis “Zionists”.

I thought Hitler was a self confessed Zionist - doesn’t Edwin black cover this in the book about the havaara agreement?

No, Hitler himself warned that if the Jews had a homeland, they wouldn’t all move there, they would instead use it as a base for their global treachery while remaining in host nations.

Thats why Hitler was intent on expelling them from Europe. Only by completely forbidding them from selling foot in Europe could he keep Europe safe from the destruction they would predictably cause.

In Hitler’s early years, when many Jews were first starting to migrate to Palestine, Hitler was all on board for helping Jews in Germany move there. The Nazi party literally helped them do it. They even minted a coin celebrating this union. It was seen as a great solution to Germany’s Jewish problem. But naturally, as we see total in Palestine, the Jews didn’t peacefully integrate with the Palestinian people. They committed acts of terror and violence against the Palestinians.

The Palestinian Grand Mufti, a supporter of Hitler (likely because they were both anti-Semites) begged Hitler to stop sending his Jews there. Hitler obliged. Some argue that the idea of extermination came from the Mufti, but we know that’s nonsense because Hitler didn’t have a program of mass extermination. Though the Mufti may still have suggested it.

The alternative was to put them into camps until they could find another place for them. The initial thought was Madagascar. But this was held by the French. After France was invaded, Hitler was worried that if he sent the Jews to Madagascar, the British would sink all of his Jew carrying ships. The irony here is, if Hitler wanted all the Jews dead, this would have been the simple solution. Load them onto ships, let the British sink them, and stand blameless for killing off the Jews while your enemy takes all the blame.

Since Madagascar wasn’t feasible, after war with Russia started, the “final solution” was to send them all to the far east into Russian territory once the Russians were all moved out of Europe and east of Moscow. But that never happened.

Thanks for the breakdown.

Indeed that world have been a good way to erase a lot of people even if the ships were lost. There are other more efficient methods - like the open air camps for the Germans after the war. Much more efficient than work camps.

History will show how the crown had its grimy hands in every despicable deed that occurred in the last 500 years.

When you say the crown, who do you mean - the monarch or the City of London, financial center?
