The section on Strength thru Joy was of most interest to me. Cultivating national unity by emphasizing populist or folkish cultural traditions has not been incorporated into current right-wing ideology. Perhaps that's because the enemy has done a thorough job in infiltrating and destroying those very traditions. Look what's happened to folk music. Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie turned it into protest music - anti-national, anti-middle class, cynics w/o borders. The death knell of traditional folk was captured in the Pennebaker docu about Dylan, Don't Look Back, in the hotel room confrontation between Donovan and Dylan. https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/moment-donovan-met-bob-dylan/

There are some very good traditional folk musicians around, in terms of technique, but taking the term 'traditional' in its wider - by which I mean its essential - meaning, I think, sadly, you are correct. Tradition has a way back through what is essential. If we survive as a people, it will flourish again. We need to snatch glimpses in the present and that is essential work in itself. I hope to see what might be termed a new troubadour movement, something comprised of poets, composers, musicians, critics and, who knows, maybe philosophers too. First, and in general, we need to stop accepting/mimicking what we are given as distractions. Such a movement might perhaps struggle into form through this platform. If so, it has perhaps already started, in germinal form, although whether such a speculative beginning could survive a Substack reformation (i.e. censorship/shadow banning, etc.) seems doubtful. It seems to me that Substack is too much an intellectual version of the fake right, which is another way of saying it is building a dead end for us to waste our time in. For now there is room to write and explore ideas. I'm not sure I feel well though, having watched Bob D making love to the camera.

I see where Laurent Guyenot is one of your subscribers and you list Paul Cudenec as someone you sub. Thumbs up to both of them.

The 70's was when there was a trad folk revival in the UK and Ireland. I loved those folk rock bands. Don't think we'll see the like again.

I've subbed your Stack and noticed you're flying Guyenot and Cudenec from your mast. Couldn't have better references.
