IF Japan had invaded Russia Dec. 11th, 1941, Manstein's advance to Stalingrad on Dec. 21/22 1941 may have succeeded, preventing the worst German loss of WWII. In 1941 Japan had a ~20 mile border (Korea since 1908) with Russia. I'm not sure if these 2 borders triangulate with China or Manchuria, as Japan was at war with China at the time.
